This week, thousands of jewelry buyers, gemstone dealers, designers, and collectors have gathered in Las Vegas for the annual JOGS Gem, Mineral & Jewelry Show, one of the largest sourcing events taking place during Las Vegas Jewelry Week. Held May 27–31 at the World Market Center, the show brings together exhibitors from around the world offering everything from gemstones and sterling silver jewelry to fossils, minerals, beads, findings, and artisan-made creations. For many retailers, JOGS is where new discoveries happen. Buyers walk aisles filled with turquoise, coral, spiny oyster shell, lapis, pearls, sterling silver jewelry, rough stones, and handcrafted pieces from artists and suppliers representing dozens of countries. It is one of the few major shows that combines traditional wholesale ordering with a cash-and-carry model, allowing buyers to purchase inventory and take it home the same day. (JOGS Gem Show)

The show also serves as an important part of Las Vegas Jewelry Week, occurring alongside major industry events such as JCK, AGTA GemFair, Couture, and the Las Vegas Antique Jewelry & Watch Show. Together, these events transform Las Vegas into one of the jewelry industry’s most influential gathering places each year. (JOGS Gem Show)

Walking a show like JOGS is a reminder of just how vast the jewelry world truly is. There are countless styles, materials, trends, and techniques represented under one roof. Yet among all the sparkle and variety, many collectors continue to seek something more personal — jewelry that carries a story, a heritage, and the hand of the artist who created it.

That is one reason authentic Navajo handmade jewelry remains so compelling. While large trade shows showcase products from every corner of the globe, Navajo silversmithing represents a living artistic tradition passed through generations of Native families. Each handmade piece reflects the skill, vision, and individuality of the artist, making it far more than an accessory. It becomes wearable art.

At Santa Fe Sun Handmade, we appreciate the excitement and inspiration that events like JOGS bring to the jewelry world. They celebrate craftsmanship, creativity, and discovery. Yet our passion remains focused on sharing authentic handmade Navajo sterling silver and turquoise jewelry created by talented Native artists whose work tells a uniquely Southwestern story.

Whether a piece is found at a major jewelry event or discovered while exploring the American Southwest, the best jewelry has something in common: it speaks to the person who wears it. And when you find that piece, you’ll know it.
